Piece description from the artist
This vertical photograph offers a striking view from the edge of a high cliff, looking down through a natural rock split toward Spider Rock. This is an iconic 750-foot sandstone spire rising from the floor of Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona, United States. Bathed in warm morning sunlight, the rich orange tones come out, creating a vivid contrast with the green vegetation and small farmlands below. Located at the confluence of Monument Canyon, Spider Rock is a sacred landmark within the Navajo Nation. According to Navajo tradition, it is the home of Spider Grandmother, a revered figure who taught the people to weave and symbolizes wisdom and protection. This powerful desert scene is a breathtaking subject for fine art photography and an essential highlight of the American Southwest.
