Greenwich Village

Piece description from the artist

On of my favorite neighborhoods in New York is Greenwich Village, home of Washington Square Park and New York University (NYU). Surrounded by the West and East Village and Soho, it is considered the Bohemian capital and an artist's haven.

Using Color-aid® paper’s vibrant colors, I cut the images and paste them together. It can take several months to complete a piece from start to finish, from sketching the composition, to selecting the colors to cutting every piece and pasting them together to create playful, joyous, and imaginative scenes.

About Jay Krenson

Nashville, TN

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Jay has been drawing and exploring his creative interests all his life. After studying art at Middle Tennessee State University and graduating with a degree in Mass Communications, he set his sights on New York City to work in the entertainment industry. After a couple of years absorbing New York’s art scene and culture, he returned to Nashville and pursued art while branching out into the music business.
Jay returned to his love of drawing, painting, and in particular, creating collages. Some of his recent work has been inspired by song lyrics, colorful figures, country singers and city skylines including, of course, his favorite city Nashville. Jay’s influences include oriental art, Grandma Moses, Jane Wooster Scott and Red Grooms.
Jay’s award-winning art has been shown on the set of the ABC TV series Nashville, in Nashville galleries, national print advertisements and is in private collections world-wide.
Jay’s main area of focus has been creating collages. Using Color-aid® paper’s vibrant colors, he cuts the images and pastes them together. It can take several months to complete a piece from start to finish, from sketching the composition, to selecting the colors to cutting every piece and pasting them together to create playful, joyous, and imaginative scenes.
Jay hopes to create worlds in which one can become lost in the detail and color and have a sense of whimsy and joy in their own hearts.
