Piece description from the artist
Heavily flooded Tygart river flows in smooth slow-motion image over waterfall in Valley Falls State Park near Fairmont in West Virginia. This 2 second exposure was taken with a special lens filter that is able to change the color of any reflections in the scene, so the smoother top surface of the water raging over the rocks has been modified to a warm golden hue reminiscent of fall leaves. Overall, an intriguing abstract nature image that will warm up any location.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
