Gibbs and Main

Piece description from the artist

There's no better way to understand and appreciate the energy of a scene than to be standing in front of it. This was one of the most inspiring experiences I've had painting on location. I received so much encouragement and excitement from music and theatre students to curious folks driving by in their cars. Technically, it was a difficult plein air scene considering the elements involved, as well as a quickly changing sky and light.

This scene is available as an original (at various sizes) through a commission. For more examples of Tim's work please go to: www.timwinterart.com

About Tim Winter

Pittsford, NY

Growing up in Rochester, New York, Tim was oil painting almost before he could read–the result of having an older brother who left his art supplies out. Years after trying to copy the work of the masters from images in a book Tim was able to study in Florence, Italy, at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute and ultimately earn a Fine Arts degree from Nazareth College in Rochester. He has been a member of the Rochester Art Club, and has exhibited with the Pacific Arts League, as well as many juried art exhibitions in New York.

Tim now lives in Pittsford, NY, actively working both in studio and en plein air.
Painting primarily in oils, he specializes in modern impressionist landscapes. Tim’s subject matter ranges from sun-drenched harbor views to street scenes with stories to tell. When he is not chasing down his next inspiration, Tim enjoys working with clients to help realize their ideas on canvas.
