Piece description from the artist
There is an aspect of duality and merging multiple perspectives to find a unique one that fits with her own that is undefined and refuses to blindly follow another just for the sake of not being alone. She is pregnant with the heart, of life, of the earth, of the new, of the potential of creation showcased by the orange. She is birthing a new expression between her spiritual self and the self that she expresses in the external without censorship.
Kelly Lynn Kimball is an abstract artist specializing in oil pastels. She uses her hands, instead of brushes, to blend and paint. Originally from Michigan, her inspiration comes mostly from nature, as it was all around her.
Her first solo show was in 2005 in Santa Monica, CA. Since then she has had solo and group shows throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area including multiple showings in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Pasadena and at the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk. Her first large contemporary art commission piece was in 2006 for Douglas Emmett in Westwood, CA. Kelly created a five-piece lobby installation that has since been sold to a private collector. In 2009, Samitaur Constructs and The Point, a restaurant located in the lovely Hayden Tract district of Culver City, commissioned Kelly to create a forty two-foot, eleven-panel chalk-board pastel painting for their grand opening.
