Foundations

Foundations

Piece description from the artist

Painted in late 2021, Foundations was painted with thoughts of the fundamentals that make up my body of work. Soft blends of color are a hallmark of much of my paintings. Billowy pillows of blue and gold allow the viewer to drift through the work, and deeper hues offer places for the eye to land. Look closely and you will see a thin band turquoise that, for some, is seen as a horizon line.

About Carolyn Rhinebarger

Chapel Hill, NC

Carolyn Rhinebarger has lived in North Carolina for 20 years. Her professional experience in fashion and marketing gave Carolyn a solid foundation in color theory and composition which she now applies to her acrylic abstract paintings. With a painting style that others have called lyrical and ephemeral, Carolyn’s work is a result of working in blended layers of acrylic paint and glazes. Her painting entitled ‘Tears of the Sun’ appeared on the cover of the August 2020 issue of Genetics in Medicine. She has shown work in group exhibitions at local galleries and as a member of the Chatham Artists Guild in 2020, 2021 and 2022. A selection of her work is currently at Peel Art Gallery in Carrboro, North Carolina.
