A trip to Fort Myers Beach, Florida inspired this painting. The summer storms in the late afternoon were terrific. The sunsets on those evenings after the storms had raged were stunning. Brilliant colors vibrated and sparkled all around. Impasto brushstrokes create a prism of light effect and create lots of texture on the canvas.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
