Iconic US 163 Highway View from Forrest Gump Point in Utah in Black and White

Standing in the middle of US Highway 163, this black and white photograph looks toward a group of hazy mesas and butte rock formations along the Utah and Arizona border from the famous tourist viewpoint known as Forrest Gump Point. To the left, part of Monument Valley in Arizona is visible, adding to the dramatic desert scenery. This spot, located near mile marker 13 in Mexican Hat, Utah, gained fame from the movie Forrest Gump, where the title character ended his run and told his followers, “I’m pretty tired. I think I’ll go home now.” Today, the panoramic view of the open road stretching toward towering rock formations makes this one of the most photographed locations in the American Southwest.
