Fog lifting

Fog Lifting

Piece description from the artist

Fog Lifting was part of a group artist show in a gallery in Baltimore in 2009. During the opening reception, a woman stood motionless and stared at the painting for several minutes. I approached her to introduce myself and ask if she had any questions about the piece. When she turned to answer me, I could see that tears were running down her face. Concerned, I asked her if she was alright. She said she was fine and that she was "… emotionally moved by the quiet beauty of the painting. " Needless to say, she bought the original.

About Michael Diliberto

Parkton, MD

An artist and designer who has been creating art for the past 40 years. Michael is a native New Yorker who attended Pratt Institute, Minneapolis College of Art & Design and is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Design and Communications. Michael pursued a career in advertising art direction and design working with some of the largest brands in the world for the past 30 years. However, he never stopped painting. As a result of his art and commerce background, Michael’s atmospheric abstractions have traces of remembered landscapes with strong color and fluid design that grabs attention.

“I want the viewer to feel a sense of delight – either from a blast of beautiful color, a textural quality or an etherial view. While the natural world plays a profound role in my work, I try to maintain a delicate balance in my portrayal between realism and abstraction. My approach is to transform natural elements, creating images with rich surface texture and atmospheric environments filled with light and color.”

Michael lives in the beautiful, northern countryside on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland with his wife Jennifer and their two French bulldogs, Romeo and Juliet.
