Flor Veloz 2011

Piece description from the artist

This series emerges from a body of paintings destroyed in the 2014 five‑alarm fire that consumed Franck de las Mercedes’ home and studio. Nothing survived. A decade later, the artist reopened his photographic archive, meticulously restoring each documented work through careful upscaling, color correction, and digital reconstruction.
These revived pieces reveal a striking fusion of concrete‑like textures, weathered chromatic surfaces, and gestural floral impulses—marks that feel both spontaneous and architectural. Saturated hues collide with raw, tactile passages, creating compositions that pulse with movement, layered memory, and emotional charge.
The collection channels FdlM’s signature visual dynamism: bursts of color, drips, angular strokes, and floral echoes that emerge like resilient blooms pushing through urban grit. Each work becomes a testament to survival—an archive reborn, transformed, and newly suited for contemporary interiors.
Ideal for corporate, hospitality, and real‑estate environments, the series offers art that is visually electric, emotionally resonant, and enriched by a compelling narrative of loss, reconstruction, and creative persistence.

About Franck De Las Mercedes

New York, NY

Franck de las Mercedes is a New York based contemporary artist whose vibrant, emotionally charged paintings bridge memory, identity, and the pulse of urban life. Born in Masaya, Nicaragua, his work blends abstract expressionism, neo‑expressionism, and the visual language of rock carvings and Nicaraguan primitivism into a signature style of bold color, jagged linework, and hieroglyph‑like text.
His practice is rooted in storytelling, childhood recollections, family histories, and the contradictions of modern life, rendered with immediacy and raw beauty. Franck’s art has reached audiences worldwide, earning international acclaim, cultural awards, and recognition for his influential public art projects, including The Priority Boxes, a global peace initiative that became a defining part of his legacy.
Collectors are drawn to the emotional depth and striking visual energy of his work, which continues to evolve while remaining unmistakably his own.
Exclusive to TurningArt: archival prints of Franck’s pre‑2014 “lost works,” salvaged from the fire that destroyed his studio, offering a rare glimpse into an essential chapter of his artistic journey.
