Winter had always lived in the small things. The hum of the kettle before it sang, the pattern of frost creeping up the glass, the way morning light slipped shyly across her floorboards. She carried joy like a secret, gentle, constant, her own. And then he came. He arrived with a smile too sharp, words wrapped in silk. He told her she was beautiful when she was quiet, lovely when she agreed. He said he loved her too much, and she believed him, at first. Soon his love became a cage. He taught her to measure her voice before speaking, to watch her laughter like a flame that could go out at any moment. He filled her silences with his own, thick and suffocating. The world outside dimmed; her reflection grew faint. The girl who once danced barefoot in the snow began to fear the sound of footsteps. She folded herself smaller each day, until her joy became a whisper, thin, trembling, nearly gone. But one night, she woke to the sound of wind pressing against the window. It was wild, unrestrained, and it called her name. She rose. No plan, no farewell. Just the voice of something old and stubborn inside her, something that had survived him. She stepped into the cold, the door closing softly behind her like a sigh of relief. The air bit her skin, but it was clean. Honest. She walked through the snow until her footprints became her only witnesses. The sky, heavy and wide, felt like freedom. Winter smiled then, not the small, careful smile she’d worn for him, but something real and alive. And as the snow kept falling, she did not fade. She returned to her freedom. Remember always, true love doesn’t lock doors or clip wings; it lets you bloom in corners of the soul you never knew existed.

Alicia Lopez, an American painter, has brought this philosophy to life through her bold and evocative works. Having exhibited widely in both solo and group shows across the United States and Mexico, her artistic journey began in childhood. As a young girl, she would set up imaginary exhibitions for her mother, her first and most steadfast supporter.
"Without the beautiful angel God assigned me as a mom, I wouldn’t be who I am. All I am and will ever be is thanks to her. She is the strongest, kindest, and most lovable human being you will ever meet!" Alicia says, her voice brimming with love.Her mother’s encouragement laid the foundation for Alicia's passionate pursuit of art, and this deep-rooted sense of gratitude continues to fuel her work. Each of Alicia’s paintings is more than just a visual experience it’s a story. A narrative born from her desire to transform the world into a beautiful, peaceful dream. Her art seamlessly blends the realms of imagination and nature, inviting viewers to embrace the boundless beauty of the world around them.

While she works in both oils and acrylics, Alicia particularly favors acrylics for their versatility and fast-drying properties, which allow her to experiment and evolve without delay.
