'Fields of Gold' was taken in the early morning light of Badlands National Park in 2012. It marks the beginning of a cross-country adventure, of the beauty that lies just West of the Missouri River, where the sprawling flatlands of the Midwest begin to rise and fall into what will soon become the Black Hills mountain range. This photo captures the collision of those two worlds, where the soft, glistening grasses press up against a hard and formidable earth jutting out of the ground at the urging of seemingly nothing more than its own volition.
