Piece description from the artist
This color photo was converted to infrared black and white on the computer. The photo was taken on the east coast of Florida in the town of Delray. I like the look of the worn out fence with the weeds growing through it. I also like the ocean in the background.
Marc Garrison is an abstract artist and photographer whose work emphasizes process, texture, and intuitive decision-making. Using layered materials, collage, and photographic imagery, his compositions develop organically without predetermined outcomes. Photography plays both an independent and integrative role in his practice, capturing fragments, surfaces, and visual details that inform his abstract work. Garrison’s background is rooted in a lifelong engagement with visual art, driven by experimentation and material exploration. His work explores the tension between structure and spontaneity, surface and depth, creating spaces for emotional and personal interpretation. Through this process-led approach, Garrison invites viewers to engage with the work beyond fixed narratives or literal meaning
