Faraway places

Faraway Places

Piece description from the artist

Inspired by spring, summer, to fall. The warmer sun to a cooler weather where the leaves began to turn and colors of flowers began to dull, but the brightness is still there. It is a moment of refreshment when the crisp air creeps in. It reminds me of my morning walks when everything is quiet. I hear the subtle sound of crickets and the song birds waking up. I think of the cool streams near by that I visited during the summer. This place is a thought that I can escape to when overwhelmed. A place of solitude.
“Sometimes you can find peace of mind by transferring yourself to different situations. They're just reminders to stay … calm.”
- Yves Behar

About Racquel Miller

Plantsville, CT

Racquel Miller is a professional artist that resides in Connecticut who specializes in acrylic paintings with a calm and peaceful view. As a self-taught abstract artist she is inspired by nature, soft music, and life experiences which allow her art to be guided by feelings or moments in every stroke. It is a moment for her to pause, slow down, replenish, and relax. Moments such as morning walks pondering how subtle & calm it is going into deep thought about the wind blowing through the trees, streams of water running over rocks, the rushing sound of a waterfall or the birds chirping in their nearby homes inspires her work that gives me a sense of calm and comfort in a busy chaotic world. Her artwork is soft and soothing. Blues and greens are her staple colors that are happy & appealing, and can be used in many different shades.

Being self-taught & mentored by several fellow abstract artists, she lets her intuitive imagination influence her creations. She works on heavy duty gallery wrapped canvas in various sizes with professional-graded acrylic paints. All her works are original and she puts special care in each piece that she creates. Being a  2nd place juried mixed media winner her work is currently featured at The Spectrum Art Gallery in Centerbrook, CT and collected in private homes nationwide.
