Every year I take road trips to capture the vibrant, untamed spirit of the Montana Rocky Mountains at the height of the summer season. The composition draws the eye through a sweeping alpine meadow, subtly textured with low-lying wildflowers, toward the dark, grounding presence of dense evergreen forests that cling to the steep slopes. Beyond the rolling, rugged ridges, a soft gradient of warm peach fades into an expansive blue sky, evoking the quiet transition of light at the edge of the day. Through this piece, I aim to explore the harmonious contrast between the shadowed, ancient woods and the sunlit, open valleys, offering the viewer a moment of profound stillness and a lasting connection to the enduring beauty of the Western landscape.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
