Eeyore Learns to Read

Piece description from the artist

Pooh wears his new glasses as he teaches Eeyore to Read. This tableau photograph was created by harvesting pictorial elements from a variety of sources that include antique children's furniture and a 65 year old vintage Pooh Bear. Pooh and Eeyore dwell in a beautiful, enchanted forest where balloons drift into the sky in a place of peace and innocence.

About Nancy Wyllie

N Kingstown, RI

In 2020, Nancy Wyllie left Soho and realized a lifelong dream of setting up a seaside studio in Rhode Island. Trained as a painter in the classical tradition at RISD, her work shifted from photorealism to semi-abstraction. The beauty and timeless mystery of the ocean along the coast of New England, the Caribbean and Central America inspire every element in her work. A 21st century sensibility informs each painting and wall sculpture with a fresh interpretation of marine life in its many forms. These are dimensional seascapes that are carefully layered as a means of creating active surfaces in keeping with the everchanging motion and rhythms of the sea. Wyllie's paintings and mixed media pieces reside in public collections from the US to Toyko and in private collections including the Newcomb Art Museum at Tulane University and the State Darwin Museum in Moscow.
