Exhale

Piece description from the artist

This piece is inspired by the magical interior landscape of the forest. Forest bathing or "Shinrin-yoku" in Japan, is the act of walking mindfully through the forest. This mindfulness practice good for both physical and mental wellbeing. Getting outside is proven to reduce stress, improve feelings of happiness and inspire creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.

About Anisa Asakawa

Portland, OR

Anisa Asakawa is a Portland-based artist living in the city's hilly forest with her husband, two small children, and rescue terrier, Scout. She received her BFA in Fine Art from the SamFox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington U. in St. Louis. During her undergraduate training, she developed traditional technical skills and a critical eye that have helped shape her art today. Four years in an intense BFA program instilled a lifelong-love of creative development in the studio. When she's not hiking a nearby trail looking for her next landscape inspiration, you'll find Anisa in her home studio in Portland, OR recreating her hiking memories in paint.
