Evening View Zion Mt Carmel Bridge

Piece description from the artist

In this vertical view of a deep canyon in Zion National Park, Utah, USA, the Zion–Mount Carmel Bridge can be seen leading into the tunnel’s East Entrance. The massive orange and red sandstone mountain to the right holds the historic tunnel itself, carved through the heart of the rock. The evening sunlight is casting a bright glow on part of the mountains and the others are becoming shaded, adding contrast and depth to the red rock cliffs. I captured this scene from the Zion Canyon Overlook Trail on a beautiful evening, where juniper and cedar trees cling to the rugged cliffs. You can see part of the trail on the left where there is a small walkway bridge. Below, Pine Creek winds its way through the canyon’s depths. When the 1.1-mile tunnel was dedicated on July 4, 1930, it was the longest tunnel of its kind in the United States, an engineering marvel set within one of the nation’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.
