Driving the open plains, I captured this photograph of the quiet, expansive beauty of a Montana sunset as daylight softens over the open prairie. Wrapped in a weathered vintage texture and gentle, painterly tones of cream, muted teal, and warm gold, the square composition highlights the sweeping grandeur of the Western sky anchored by a sliver of golden, sunlit plains. As billowing clouds drift above a quiet stretch of country road, the piece invokes a nostalgic reverence for the solitude, stillness, and timeless rhythm of life beneath Big Sky Country.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
