Piece description from the artist
This photograph captures the breathtaking view of a deep canyon in Zion National Park, Utah, USA, where the Zion–Mount Carmel Bridge leads into the tunnel’s East Entrance. The towering orange and red sandstone mountain on the right contains the historic tunnel, masterfully carved through solid rock. As the evening sunlight spills across the cliffs, it illuminates parts of the canyon in a warm glow while casting others in shadow, creating beautiful contrast and depth within the red rock landscape. Captured from the Zion Canyon Overlook Trail, the scene reveals juniper and cedar trees clinging to the rugged cliffs and a glimpse of the walkway bridge along the trail. Far below, Pine Creek winds through the canyon’s depths. Completed and dedicated on July 4, 1930, the 1.1-mile Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel was the longest of its kind in the United States at the time—an enduring feat of engineering set amid the majestic beauty of Zion’s natural wonder.
