Piece description from the artist
A quiet evening photograph in black and white standing beside the water fountain at Park Central Square in downtown Springfield, Missouri, USA. Also known as the Public Square Historic District, this area is rich in history and sits along the path of U.S. Route 66. The historic fountain creates a peaceful focal point as the surrounding buildings begin to glow in the evening light.
Many of the structures encircling the square are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with construction dates ranging from the late 1800s through the mid-1900s. Rising in the background is the historic Heers Tower, originally built in 1915 as the Heers Department Store. Its distinctive height and classic architecture add character to the skyline, making this scene a timeless glimpse into the heart of Springfield’s historic downtown.
