Ellens light and love

Ellen's Light and Love

Piece description from the artist

I painted this painting in honor of my aunt, Ellen who passed away unexpectedly and recently. She was one of my favorite people in my life and I really feel this painting is a true tribute to her beauty, kindness, sweetness, light and love. The painting makes me very happy, just as she made everyone who she met feel.

About Margaret Zox Brown

New York, NY

Margaret Zox Brown, like much of her family, is a lifelong Manhattanite. She studied oil painting at New York City’s culturally rich 92nd Street Y for 29 years and from 1998 through 2016 Margaret studied with the accomplished Southern oil painter,
Brian Rutenberg. Through Brian's tutelage, Margaret expanded her color language to include transparent colors, learned concepts like the flat picture plane, and most important, made a thorough study of Art History.

Painting larger and larger pieces with confidence allowed her to go from private collectors to public space acquisitions including Danny Meyer’s restaurant Maialino in the Gramercy Park Hotel, the Cafe at Fairway Market, and the lobby of the commercial building 462/470 7th Ave, to name a few.

Margaret attended the Chapin School in New York City and Trinity College in Hartford, CT. She continues to live and work in New York City, showing at different galleries and selling from her studio in the Garment District while actively pursuing more public venue opportunities all over the world.
