Piece description from the artist
Our first evening photo trek at Death Valley was met with a fierce sandstorm. There was not much opportunity for camera setup or shooting for much of the hike. That said, we were grateful to find this abstract scene and a few others in the aftermath of the storm, with dunes basking in warm sunset light. The storm wiped away footprints, giving us a fresh set of ripples and other rich visual elements in the sand. Mesquite Flat Dunes
Marcus W. Reinkensmeyer is an avid Arizona based nature photographer, especially drawn to less traveled wilderness areas. His growing body of images explores the transient quality of light and the intricate patterns of our natural environment. His work includes a collection of abstract “nature impressions,” created through time exposures and camera movements “in the field.”
