Piece description from the artist

The switch to acrylic from oils allows some new paint application techniques. Extruded lines and forms were applied to the background using a pastry bag. In the earlier oil painting, stiff bristle brushes and a palette knife were used, which created softer and less precise shapes. The lower pigment loading of acrylic paints makes opaque, plastic shapes harder to achieve without adding a bit more white, but the high color helps the foreground stand out against the background.
