Piece description from the artist
A winding walking trail leads your eyes through the peaceful forest toward a young female deer standing quietly in the warm morning light along the path to Spearfish Falls in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Surrounded by lush green trees and the wooded scenery of Spearfish Canyon, she seemed to fit perfectly into this peaceful spring landscape.
A bench sits just beyond the deer, while an informational sign can be seen across the trail. I captured this wildlife photograph during spring, when she was still wearing her soft, fuzzy winter coat. I love how the early sunlight makes the fresh green foliage glow while casting beautiful shadows across the trail and surrounding grass.
This unexpected wildlife encounter added an extra special moment to my visit to Spearfish Falls and is a wonderful reminder of the natural beauty and wildlife found throughout the Black Hills of South Dakota.
