Piece description from the artist
Bright and glowing Daffodils are an encouraging sign that spring has sprung, and their beauty is undeniable. "Daffodilias" offers hope for lovely weather as the flowers stand proud in all of their glorious splendor against a backdrop of green pastures and warm, humid skies!
In his paintings, Luis Lozano attempts to create an air of realism by sculpting the light that fills the empty space around an object. He believes that light is essential to creating an illusion in painting, taking inspiration from artists like "Johannes Vermeer":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Vermeer, "Caravaggio":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravaggio, and "John Singer Sargent":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Singer_Sargent.
Luis studied at the La Jolla Academy of Advertising and Design in La Jolla, California. His work in the advertising and design has given him experience with storyboards, thumb sketches, layout, design, and composition, while also providing insight about the relationship between artist and audience.
Luis currently maintains a studio practice and gallery space in Lynchburg, Virginia.
