CROSSING THE HELLESPONT

CROSSING THE HELLESPONT

Piece description from the artist

In 480 BC, the Persian King Xerxes I built a pontoon bridge across the Hellespont in order to invade Greece. The Hellespont is a mile wide strip of land which is known to separate all of Europe from Asia. Since I was very young, I have been drawn to the events in the ancient world. Another of my large paintings, titled ANABASIS, hangs in living room. It was inspired by the famous "March Up Country" a Greek story written by Xenophon.
