Cracked earth number 8

Cracked Earth Number 8

Piece description from the artist

Global warming is even happening at microscopic levels undetectable to the human eye. Flowers are altering ultraviolet pigments in their petals to compensate for the declining ozone and rising temperatures. In turn, some pigment changes in flowers have made them less attractive to pollinators which has a devastating reproductive effect to their ecosystem.
My Cracked Earth series aims to express love and loss. It conveys a romantic nostalgia for the natural world as it transforms into otherness due to global warming. Its wonder and beauty is enchanting even as it breaks down and adapts. It depicts a gradual transformation and longing. A sort of in-betweenness and otherness as that’s the best we can hope for.
