Communities

Communities

Piece description from the artist

All of us are part of not one, but many communities. These communities might include our workmates, church group, country of origin, weekend soccer team, or book club friends. We often share common interests, goals, or beliefs. No one person has the same community as another, yet we each rely on and are strengthened by our bonds with our communities. Imagine what could be accomplished if we brought all our communities together to work for a common goal that benefitted all?

About Kathy Ferguson

Edwards, CO

Colorado artist Kathy Ferguson paints colorful abstract landscapes that are richly layered, botanically inspired reactions to her experiences with nature. Using combinations of geometric and organic shapes, she creates imaginary worlds using paint, collage paper, and ink. Her colors are often bold and saturated alluding to environments more illusionary than authentic, places more commonly found in dreams than in reality.

Her work is held in many collections including the Plaza Hotel in New York, the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, and the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia.
