Colorful front of Peranakan traditional houses in Singapore

Piece description from the artist

Peranakan houses are located in Eunos area in Singapore. Shophouses in Singapore were first built in the 1840s in an Early Shophouse Style, before they developed into Transitional Style, Late Shophouse Style, Art Deco Style and subsequently, Modern Style. They were based on traditional wooden houses from Southern China—where the majority of Singapore’s early immigrants were from—but included a mix of Asian and European influences.
