Blooms from a Claret Cup Cactus captured my attention while hiking to Holeman Spring Canyon in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah, United States. These are desert plants that you do not want to step on or grab! It's a type of hedgehog cactus. They are also called kingcup and red-flowered hedgehog. It's binomial name is Echinocereus triglochidiatus.
