Piece description from the artist
This work is part of my City Noir series. It consists of high contrast captures of iconic buildings and locations in New York City, such as the Empire State building and Central Park, as well as scenes that express some of the magic and mystery that the City offers up every day. The subject of this photo is Park Avenue during the morning hours when the slanting sunlight from the east casts dark shadows on the buildings lining the Avenue. The mysterious effect often stops me in my tracks.
Kenneth focuses cityscapes, street photography and landscapes, particularly using low light and long exposure techniques. His work also features black and white photography, especially emphasizing a cinema noir atmosphere.
Kenneth's work has been included in the Saatchi ARTPARIS exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris and has been shown in venues in the U.S. and internationally. Highlights include "The Haunted Gallery" (Chashama Gallery, NY), "Points of View"(1199SEIU Gallery, NY), "Imagine" (The Cell Gallery, NY), the Salmagundi Art Club's Photography and Graphics exhibition (NY), and Long Island Photo Gallery's "Street Life" exhibition (NY). Additionally, his photo "Urban Nature NY" is featured as cover art on the book, "Still the Same Hawk: Reflections on Nature and New York" (Fordham Press). Kenneth has twice won the first place prize in the Canon "Imagine" magazine "Take Your Best Shot" contest. His photo essay, "The Only Way is Up," was featured in Nikon's "N-Photo" Magazine.
