Catherine the Great

Piece description from the artist

My portrait of Catherine the Great, who lived in the 18th century, was inspired by the work of two fabulous artists: Andrew Putter, a South African photographer, and Gabriel Moreno, a Brazilian artist and illustrator. The portrait depicts Catherine with one breast exposed as a symbol of her nurturing nature. She made significant strides for her country in the mid-1700s for promoting free education not only for women, but for her population as a whole. Additionally, she was also known for her strong support of the arts and cultural projects.
