Piece description from the artist
I love the atmosphere in this stunning sunrise scene, where a wide beam of golden sunlight breaks through the clouds and reaches across the haze above the snow-dusted La Sal Mountains. The soft morning light creates a beautiful glow in the distance, while the steep canyon cliffs in the foreground remain almost completely silhouetted against the brighter sky.
I captured this view from the Shafer Trail Viewpoint in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah, and I was drawn to the incredible contrast between the dark rock formations and the warm light spreading across the mountain range. The remaining snow on the peaks added another layer of beauty to the scene, making this sunrise feel especially dramatic.
Moments like this are one of the reasons I love photographing the American Southwest. The combination of changing light, rugged terrain, distant mountains, and morning haze created a peaceful yet powerful scene that I was grateful to capture.
