Canyon Depth Horseshoe Bend

A golden warm sunrise moves in across the towering sandstone cliffs at Horseshoe Bend, one of the most famous viewpoints in the American Southwest. Captured shortly after sunrise near Page, Arizona, the early morning sun illuminates the upper canyon walls in rich golden tones while shadows linger along the lower cliffs and river below. This is a zoomed in photo of the famous entrenched meander.

Far beneath the overlook, the Colorado River winds in a dramatic horseshoe-shaped curve around massive sandstone formations, carving through the rugged landscape over thousands of years. This breathtaking geological feature sits within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, part of the Navajo Nation and vast Colorado Plateau, a region known for its towering cliffs, deep canyons, and striking desert scenery.

Horseshoe Bend remains one of Arizona’s most photographed natural landmarks, offering visitors an unforgettable view of the power and beauty of the Colorado River as it winds through the heart of the Southwest.
