Vibrant abstract painting inspired by the bold glow of the sun against the calm stillness of a blue sky. Part of the ongoing "Loops" series that explores the way colors interact with each other. Simple minimalist shapes are given an added sense of texture and layering with embroidery incorporated into the original painting (no embroidery present in print).
Emily Keating Snyder a Los Angeles-based fine artist focusing on abstract painting incorporating the tradition of embroidery. Her minimalist, textural paintings seek to bring craft into the context of fine art by literally stitching thread through artist’s canvas, presenting what is traditionally a women’s medium in the context of historically-masculine painting. Her pieces create a balance between rigidity and looseness, as spontaneous brushstrokes and raw canvas interact with intentional embroidered lines. Color is always a driving inspiration in her mixed-media work. Emily graduated from NYU in 2009 and her work has been featured by Real Simple, Emily Henderson, Clever, SF Girl By Bay, designlovefest and Parachute Home.
