Piece description from the artist
Part of a series on the Blue Ridge Mountains, this painting is set in a portrait position to emphasize the seemly endless range of mountains as they disappear into their blue haze. Serene colors and peaceful harmony are blended with loose brushstrokes to capture the picaresque mountains.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
