Blue meadow

Blue Meadow

Piece description from the artist

This is how I imagine a sunset in the Fall. From behind the trees the light is filtered and makes the shadows blue and dark. There is still some light, but we don't get much of it. Only the top of the trees and the leaves are illuminated and show their colors, green, yellow or orange.

About Ricardo Maldonado

Cambridge, MA

Ricardo Maldonado loves painting and experimenting with color. He preferes natural outdoor subjects, as the light and colors change often with the seasons and the time of the day. Those changes, subtle or abrupt, are always challenging him. For Ricardo, painting is a passion and a discipline. Painting taught him to see things in a different way, observing every detail more carefully and more consciously, and ultimately appreciating more deeply all that surrounds him.

Ricardo's paintings are often very colorful and create a very lively atmosphere for the viewer. Sometimes strong and colorful contrasts enhance the difference between light and shadows and brings up beautiful effects not seen often.

"Bamboo Bar Code":http://www.turningart.com/art/bamboo-bar-code-by-ricardo-maldonado was selected by the Cambridge Arts Council for marketing around town and on Cambridge MBTA buses announcing Cambridge Open Studios Spring 2012. Similarly, another painting titled "Where Bananas Come From" was selected for the announcement of Mass General Hospital's "Illuminations" exhibit Summer 2012.
