Piece description from the artist
A vertical selective color photograph showcases the brilliant natural blue spring that gives Roaring River State Park its name in Cassville, Missouri, USA. Nestled beneath a towering limestone bluff in the heart of the Ozarks, the crystal-clear waters create a stunning display of color that draws visitors from across the Midwest. The vivid blue hues of the spring stand in beautiful contrast to the rugged rock formations that surround this natural wonder. I kept the blue colored waters in this scene and made everything else black and white.
Above the spring, a delicate waterfall cascades down the face of the bluff, dropping an estimated 150 to 200 feet before splashing into the pool below. The white spray often catches the light in a way that resembles rays shining across the water, adding to the scene's peaceful beauty and charm.
As one of Missouri's largest natural springs, Roaring River Spring flows at an average rate of more than 20 million gallons of water per day. The spring maintains a constant temperature of approximately 57 degrees year-round and reaches depths of more than 470 feet, creating the cold, clear waters that support the river's famous trout fishery. This breathtaking Ozark landscape captures the source of the river and the natural beauty that has made Roaring River State Park one of Missouri's most treasured outdoor destinations.
