Black Leaves

Piece description from the artist

I don't have much to say about this image other than I love the texture on the leaves. As I've said before, any type of leaf fascinates me. This particular tree is growing in my in-laws backyard and I've had multiple opportunities to capture them. Yet the "keeper" photo has always eluded me. My goal today was to get something that showed off that great texture and kept the composition simple. And after around 40 shots, I finally grabbed this one.

The final photograph is not perfect by any means, but it's a keeper and I'm happy with it.

Day 320 of my 365 photo a day project.

About Scott Norris

Milwaukee, WI

motion. Mood. Atmosphere. These are the heartbeats of my photography. From sweeping landscapes to intricate still life and captivating macros, my work is a journey – one that reveals my triumphs, struggles, beliefs, and the essence of who I am.

I'm all about spontaneity. I don't stage what I shoot; I let the world around me guide the lens. What catches my eye becomes the canvas for my story.

But the magic doesn't end when I click the shutter. That's just the beginning. I dive deeper, transforming raw images into visual tales. I add textures, enhance contrasts, and sculpt the light and shadows to evoke the emotions I felt in that very moment. It's a process of alchemy, where my heart and mind collaborate to bring my vision to life.
