I love to capture the raw, unpredictable mood of the Montana landscape, where the earth and sky exist in constant conversation. The image explores the stark contrast between the grounded, quiet stillness of the golden plains below and the turbulent, shifting energy of the storm brewing above. As dense, dark clouds swallow the distant mountain peaks and release curtains of rain, the mountains themselves become ethereal, fading into soft shades of blue and gray. This piece is an exploration of atmospheric depth and isolation, capturing a fleeting moment where the immense power of nature feels both intimidating and deeply serene.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
