Berkshire Ice Glen

Berkshire Ice Glen

Piece description from the artist

I worked on a project about Herman Melville and Nathanial Hawthorn in the Berkshires. The day Melville met Hawthorn they went to a picnic on Monument Mountain in Stockbridge and then went hiking in the Ice Glen. It is called Ice Glen because of its north/south axis; the sun only reaches the sides of the glen for a brief time, leaving ice in the glen long into the summer. It is a rugged and peaceful spot.
