Piece description from the artist
The cool Notch Trail ladder leads up beside a cool otherworldly layered sedimentary rock formation. This 50 foot ladder with wood logs and steel cable is one of the main highlights and challenge of the popular 1.5mile round-trip trail in Badlands National Park in Interior South Dakota. You can see a couple people close to the top of the ladder to help give you a perspective of it's size. The concrete looking rock is composed mainly of soft mudrock, claystones, siltstones, and sandstone. The loose sand like gravel rock along the ladder makes it pretty slippery so you want to stay on the ladder.
