Piece description from the artist
I wanted to paint the Paradise Bird, (Ave del Paraiso in Spanish), one of the most mysterious and fascinating tropical flowers. Its colors are very strong and appealing to anyone who see it. Hard to miss such a beautiful flower.
Ricardo Maldonado loves painting and experimenting with color. He preferes natural outdoor subjects, as the light and colors change often with the seasons and the time of the day. Those changes, subtle or abrupt, are always challenging him. For Ricardo, painting is a passion and a discipline. Painting taught him to see things in a different way, observing every detail more carefully and more consciously, and ultimately appreciating more deeply all that surrounds him.
Ricardo's paintings are often very colorful and create a very lively atmosphere for the viewer. Sometimes strong and colorful contrasts enhance the difference between light and shadows and brings up beautiful effects not seen often.
