Piece description from the artist
A truly unforgettable night witnessing the Aurora Borealis right here in Missouri. Watching the northern lights dance across the sky and reflect on Fellows Lake in Springfield was one of those rare, timeless wow moments. Vivid hues of pink, red, green, and purple shimmered across the water as the lights shifted and pulsed overhead.
On October 10, 2024, the aurora was in full storm mode, reaching an impressive KP index of 8.67 and pushing visibility far south—reportedly even into Florida. I’m so glad we decided to step out on a busy weeknight to experience it. This marked the second time I’ve seen the northern lights, but the first time they were clearly visible to the naked eye. The first time, they only appeared through my camera. Seeing them with my own eyes, mirrored on the calm lake surface, made the experience feel truly magical and unforgettable.
