Piece description from the artist
In this expanse of the Montana plains, the landscape is defined by a quiet, enduring strength where the vast, soft sky presses against a sea of muted grasses and weathered earth. Working with a palette of sun-bleached ochres, bruised slate-grays, and deep sage, I wanted to capture the rhythmic, unbroken horizon that has always shaped this country’s unique sense of isolation and belonging. This piece is an exploration of the subtle textures found within stillness—the way golden autumn light catches the dry stubble of the pasture and evokes the lingering, melancholic beauty of rural heritage.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
