Audvantgardener

Piece description from the artist

With “Audvantgardener” I wanted to create something experimental that partially masked a woman's external allure and placed emphasis on image and self perception through chic animalism. The water color represents the daily chaos we encounter. I used the animal print to represent her passion and sensuality, while the flower in her hair and her calm facial expression provides a natural opposition and balance to this wild side. I think we all experience internal struggles with our true identity versus people's perception.

About Otha Davis III

North Hollywood, CA

While working on hit records in the music business has played a driving force in his career, it’s Vakseen’s (born Otha Davis III) passion for the arts that has served as his key to sanity in the fast paced entertainment industry. The self-taught, Floridian has developed a distinct collage- influenced painting style (Vanity Pop) that fuses elements of surrealism, cubism, photorealism and fashion onto canvas. His paintings deal with the theme of personal identity and evolve around society's idolization of beauty, as well as the enhancements women endure to obtain this level of "perfection". His paintings have been featured by major brands like Adidas, Complex, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Juxtapoz and Tupac Shakur’s estate, in addition to being sold to collectors and art enthusiasts worldwide.
