Piece description from the artist

An absracted painting of birches (or aspens) with mica and metallic paint used to form the gold autumnal leaves. The trunks were created using painted lines over wash (drips). Then a layer of impasto was applied using a knife and extrusion through pastry nozzles. The mica was mixed with an acrylic gel medium. In places where the mica flakes were applied thickly, a silicone tool was used to push the mica flakes into stacks and angles. The result is a complex translucent texture and glittering gold color.
