This piece was inspired by a song by the musician Andrew Bird called "Armchairs." Nudibranches are very cool, marine gastropod molluscs (sea slugs), and they are very bright and colorful.
Ashley Freeland is an illustrator, painter, and graphic designer living in Boston, Massachusetts. She was inspired to paint by her grandfather, who himself was a painter. Her work has appeared in Boston's "The Weekly Dig" newspaper, Abstraks magazine, and has been exhibited in several shows throughout the Boston area. She is inspired by cats, humor, and food.
