My son Apollo was born in 2010 with a rare heart defect, a double aortic arch. Much of his first few years of life were spent sick, going back and forth to the doctor, and undergoing numerous surgeries. In 2013 I decided to dress him as a superhero and take a few photos. Apollo's personality shone through the images and inspired The Superhero Project where I photographed many local specials needs children, all dressed in their superhero vision.
Renee Bergeron is a birth photographer in the Pacific Northwest. Her photography has been published in several magazines as well as websites across the globe. She specializes in birth, special needs, and documentary style photography. She isn't afraid to capture the real, raw range of emotions we all experience.
